Kitsuninjas

May 2020

Kitsuninjas is an 8 week school project, created for the course Game Production 2: Vertical Slice. It was showcased at the Gotland Game Conference 2020, where it won Best Game Feel and Best Level Design.

Kitsuninjas is a 3D local multiplayer versus game for up to 4 players where each player fights to reach the score limit first. Points are gained by defeating opponents, as well as by capturing and holding on to the flag.

Players can deal damage by dashing through each other or by slashing each other with their katana, in addition to the 4 limited-use objects they can pick up throughout the map.

Walking into a bush hides you from vision for the other players, walking in water slows you down, and bamboos cannot be walked through but can be dashed through.

This project was developed in Unreal Engine by a team of 7 people, in which I was 1 of 2 programmers. We both shared the workload evenly, but some interesting aspects I worked on primarly were the useable items and the invisibility when in a bush mechanic, as well as contributing to the general design of the game.

You can find the trailer for the game here, as well as visit our itch.io page if you’d like, where you can download the game.
