Kitsuninjas

★ Best Game Feel — GGC 2020 · ★ Best Level Design — GGC 2020

May 2020 · Unreal Engine · 1 of 2 programmers · Team of 7 · 8 weeks

Kitsuninjas is an 8-week school project created for the course Game Production 2: Vertical Slice. It was showcased at the Gotland Game Conference 2020, where it won Best Game Feel and Best Level Design.

It's a 3D local-multiplayer versus game for up to 4 players where each player fights to reach the score limit first. Points are gained by defeating opponents and by capturing and holding the flag. Players deal damage by dashing through each other or slashing with their katana, plus four limited-use items scattered across the map. Walking into a bush hides you from the other players, water slows you down, and bamboo can't be walked through — but can be dashed through.

Developed in Unreal Engine by a team of 7, in which I was 1 of 2 programmers. We shared the workload evenly; I primarily built the useable items and the bush-invisibility mechanic, and contributed to the general design of the game.
