SkillMill is a mobile application developped over a bit more than a year by a team of Game Design students working with career counselors and members of the Uppsala University Unit for Global Partnerships, and funded by Uppsala University and Erasmus+.
SkillMill aims to help students reflect on what soft skills (e.g. communication, creativity, problem-solving,…) they have trained throughout their life experiences to better prepare them for job interviews in an age where questions about soft skills are becoming increasingly prevalent.
It does this through self-reflection exercises that make access to an extensive framework created by the career counselors easy, and catalogs all a user’s experiences by soft skill so that they may find all their explored experiences for a specific soft skill at the touch of a button.
In September 2022, we presented the app at the EAIE (European Association for International Education) conference in Barcelona, and it is now available on both Android and iOS.
I was the lead developper on this project, which included both front-end and back-end work. Flutter was used for the front-end, and SQLite for database tasks.
